Year 4: Groundwork Course

Our Year 4 Groundwork, for setting up the strong foundation to 11+ exams, consists of a weekly Tuition Course. The course can be taken in person or a remote video session.

1.  Our course prepares Year 4 students in all four subjects: 

• Mathematics(Numeracy);
• English (including comprehension, creative  writing and advanced vocabulary work);
• Verbal Reasoning
• Non-verbal Reasoning 

2.  The syllabus covered in Year 4 consists of concepts, knowledge and skills to give them a good foundation prior to their eleven plus preparation in the following year.

3.They will also  be introduced to time techniques, weekly timed assessments and mock exam practice in this year of preparation.

The Groundwork to 11 Plus course takes place on Saturdays from 9:30 am to 11 am

1.  Each weekly lesson is 1 hour 30 minutes and the teaching session is held in a small group up to 5 children. 

2. It is found that most children prefer working within a group. Working within a small group enables children to increase their focus and confidence and allows them to enjoy learning.

3.They are able to benefit from times of concentrated and sustained silent work, as well as being able to interact with their peers.

Just as with the in-person attended course, all online eleven plus tuition classes will be delivered via a Zoom session wherein the course is taught and delivered remotely using this platform. The course content and structure will be the same as the in-person attended session.

• To prepare the students for real-world experience, we conduct weekly assessments to check their understanding of mental arithmetic skills and their understanding of the previous units taught. 
• This will ensure the learning needs are exposed sooner than later.
