Year 5: 11+ Preparation

Course Overview 

Our 11 Plus course is meticulously designed to provide your child with  the essential skills and knowledge needed to excel in the selective  school entrance exams. With a balanced focus on English, mathematics,  verbal reasoning, and non-verbal reasoning, our course covers the entire  spectrum of subjects crucial for success. 

Curriculum Breakdown:

• English: Our English curriculum emphasizes comprehension, grammar, vocabulary, and essay writing. We guide students to articulate their ideas effectively and develop strong writing skills.
• Mathematics: The mathematics section covers a wide range of topics, from basic arithmetic to complex problem-solving. We foster a deep understanding of mathematical concepts.
• Verbal Reasoning: This section hones students' critical thinking and logical reasoning abilities through exercises that involve comprehending and manipulating language.
• Non-Verbal Reasoning: Students develop spatial reasoning, pattern recognition, and analytical skills, which are essential for the non-verbal reasoning component.

• Lessons are held on weekdays after school and on Saturdays. 

• Each week, there will be two lessons conducted of 11 plus preparation :

1. English and Maths for 2 hours 10 minutes(includes 10 mins of short break)- Every Saturday 
2. Verbal and non-verbal reasoning for 1 hour- Every Wenesday

•  The teaching session is held in a small group up to 5 to 6 children.
•  It is found that most children prefer working within a group. 
• Working within a small group enables children to increase their focus and confidence and allows them to enjoy learning. 
• They are able to benefit from times of concentrated and sustained silent work, as well as being able to interact with their peers.  
• Materials and Resources:Students will have access to a wealth of carefully curated practice  materials where worksheets will be provided for each lesson, including worksheets. These  resources are designed to reinforce learning and boost confidence.
• Books that are required during the course needs to be bought separately by the parent.

Assessment and Progress Tracking:

• Weekly assessments help us gauge each student's progress accurately.This will  ensure the learning needs are exposed sooner than later.
•  Monthly report would be  provided with detailed feedback on strengths and areas for improvement,  allowing us to tailor our instruction to individual needs.

Just as with the in-person attended course, all online classes will be delivered via Zoom wherein the course is taught and delivered remotely. The course content and structure will be the same as the in-person attended session.

To prepare the students for real-world 11+ experience, we conduct weekly assessments to check their understanding on mental arithmetic skills and their understanding of the previous units taught.
